The Story Behind the Water Impact Network

Next Meters, a leader in the submetering industry, has launched the Water Impact Network to help bring clean, sustainable water to communities in need.

From Conservation to a Bigger Calling

At Next Meters, our mission, “To promote conservation of utilities for the betterment of our communities,” has always guided our work in delivering high-quality submetering solutions. But in 2024, we had an epiphany.

While we helped communities in the United States and other developed countries conserve water, we became increasingly aware of the stark contrast: more than 2 billion people on earth lack access to clean water. This gap between conservation and crisis presented an opportunity, one we felt a responsibility to lead.

Turning Awareness Into Action

Driven by our values of Unparalleled Service, Continuous Innovation, and Reaching for the Stars, we sought a way to help. That’s when we connected with Family Humanitarian, an organization dedicated to providing sustainable clean water solutions through education, high-quality wells, and long-term maintenance.

In 2024, we funded 5 wells in Uganda and Kenya and witnessed firsthand the joy, life, and hope that clean water brought to thousands.

Uniting an Industry Towards a Bold Goal

Inspired by this impact and recognizing the need for industry-wide collaboration, we launched the Water Impact Network to unite the utility industry in delivering lasting clean water solutions. And the momentum is already building.

“This year, $156,000 has been pledged—enough to fund 39 wells—and we’re just getting started.

Our goal is to collectively fund and install 100 wells in 2025, bringing two hundred thousand people access to clean water.” – David Clyde, COO of Next Meters & founder of Water Impact Network
